Dear Editor, We are three Grade 10 students from McMath secondary school and we are studying electoral reform.

After years of precious little movement on the issue of illegal hotels, this past week we’ve seen a flurry of activity. On Jan. 3, councillors, at a committee meeting, endorsed (6-1) a staff report recommending the city legalize house-hotels.

Dear Editor, As you can see by the photo, my neighbour, age 88, and I, 70, have removed most of the snow and ice from in front of our houses. This was done to permit safe walking on our roads, since there are no sidewalks on our street.

Dear Editor, Re: “2016 showed us change is possible,” Voices, Jan. 6.

Dear Editor, The sidewalks in Richmond, particularly in the more residential areas, are very icy — trecherous, in fact. It’s safer walking down the centre line of No. 3 Road.

Dear Editor, I really feel pain for all those people who complain about increased property taxes for their detached homes. I have a solution.

Dear Editor, Re: “City staff urge legalizing illegal hotels,” News, Jan. 3. So, in response to the problem of operating illegal Airbnbs, Richmond City Council is considering making Airbnbs legal. I am scratching my head.

Dear Editor, Re: “City staff urge legalizing illegal hotels,” News, Jan. 3. There are seagulls and crows ravaging the piles of garbage left out on the street of the illegal hotel operating next door.
