Richmond is creating more options for going after illegal short-term rentals.

Dear Editor,

Re: “City staff urge legalizing illegal hotels,” News, Jan. 3.

So, in response to the problem of operating illegal Airbnbs, Richmond City Council is considering making Airbnbs legal.

I am scratching my head.

If I commit fraud or cheat on my taxes, might government officials change the law to allow me to evade accountability?

I always thought that if people break the law, they would be held accountable. Am I living in an alternative universe?
