Dear Editor,
The sidewalks in Richmond, particularly in the more residential areas, are very icy — trecherous, in fact. It’s safer walking down the centre line of No. 3 Road.
There has been limited snow removal from sidewalks during this winter period. In addition, there has been no attempt to salt and/or sand the sidewalks. Bus stops have not been maintained at all.
According to a city bylaw, stratas are responsible for maintaining the sidealks they front on. However, this is being ignored at many sites, including the condo building that I live in which fronts onto Granville Avenue, Cooney Road and Buswell Street.
Obviously, the city is turning a blind eye to all of this. The wake-up call will be when someone falls and is badly injured.
Thank you and have a happy and safe 2017.
