Dear Editor,
Re: “2016 showed us change is possible,” Voices, Jan. 6.
I couldn’t agree more with Eve Edmonds about there being a need for people to commit themselves to becoming agents of positive change in a world that seems to become more ethically and morally confused with every passing year.
But, to be an agent for change, one must also accept the responsibility of first becoming fully informed about the issues that affect our lives, then have the courage to make objective, unbiased judgements about how they should be perceived and dealt with, and, finally, to become an active rather than passive presence in any initiatives that seek to change conditions for the better.
Education, courage, and activism — three attributes necessary to qualify as a fully committed agent of change.
How many qualified candidates are there in our community?
