Dear Editor,

Do the politicians of this city and province really think a minimal increase to the BC Homeowners Grant is going to count for something when some residents have seen their property increase up to 70 and sometimes 80 per cent?

The solution is not that difficult.

If the assessment has gone up 70 to 80 per cent, the Home Owners Grant should increase in a similar fashion.

Don’t even get me started about the Senior’s Home Owner’s Grant. Why is this grant even tied to the assessment value of the home? It is a SENIOR’s grant. It should be given to seniors, period. They don’t stop being seniors because the value of their property has increased.

Just give it to them.

It is about time the city and province gave the seniors something besides financial hardship.
