The Editor, I am a 14 year old member of the Richmond Rockets Speed Skating Club. I have been inspired by the 2010 Winter Games and greatly enjoy the exhilarating sport. However, Im very upset that our clubs ice time was cut from 5.75 hours to 3.

The Editor, The face of Canadian diversity is changing fast. Prominent Vancouver Sun columnist Douglas Todd, in a recent article, has highlighted some of the most important developments pertaining to diversity and multiculturalism in Canada.

The Editor, On Jan.16, a number of choirs from Richmonds vibrant choral community joined together for the 5th annual Richmond Sings at Fraserview MB Church.

It turns out my last column talking about Chinese language signage in Richmond shopping malls came out on the same day as an article in the Vancouver Sun praising a Richmond womans campaign to limit non-English signs in the Golden Village.

The Editor, Re: "Adopting two faces of Janus," Community, Jan. 6. As the President of the Sea Island Heritage Society, I was delighted to read several articles that have appeared recently about the Burkeville subdivision on Sea Island.

The Editor, Some people have nothing but time on their hands. There is a fellow in my service club who volunteers for all the fundraisers and other groups as well, such as church and community meal programs. He has so much time on his hands.

Ten or so years from now, we may look back and circle Dec. 19, 2011 as the day our healthcare system embarked on a new path. Whether it will ultimately be a good or bad path remains to be seen.

The Editor, Re: "Do away with blue boxes?" Letters, Jan. 13. Mr. Hoegler's choice words reveal the inadequacy of how we as a society are dealing with environmental issues.

National Non-Smoking Week may not be a name on everyone's lips, but then neither are cigarettes. That's reason to celebrate.
