Duck Island is traffic nightmare

Open letter to Richmond City Council, I would like to put in my two-cents worth regarding the proposed Duck Island development. BAD IDEA.

Open letter to Richmond City Council,

I would like to put in my two-cents worth regarding the proposed Duck Island development.

BAD IDEA. While this may seem like a good idea financially for the city, it would create a traffic nightmare, as will be attested to during the upcoming season for the night market at this location.

To date, since the River Rock Resort and Casino was built, I have had innumerable close calls with drivers who have no idea where they are going once they reach the intersection of No. 3 and Bridgeport roads.

Increasingly, drivers are making right-hand turns onto Bridgeport from the centre and left-hand turn lanes - across two and three lanes of traffic.

As if that is not bad enough, many drivers also proceed straight through from the left-or right-hand turn lanes because they are often going to the casino.

I have also seen drivers make illegal U-turns at this intersection because they are unaware of where they are, as well as many other intersections and this problem appears to be on the increase.

Richmond already has enough traffic headaches without intentionally creating more.
