An open letter to the City of Richmond, mayor and council,
Re: "Pay parking will cost in long run," Letters, March 30.
"Rethink parking strategy," Letters, March 30.
I have just driven in from Tsawwassen and am sitting having a latté and scone at the Steveston Starbucks and afterwards plan to do a little shopping. I like Steveston and do this quite often. I used to go into Vancouver too, being Vancouver born and bred, but refuse to do so now as metered parking is out of hand.
Being from Tsawwassen, I also used to go into White Rock, but they have unfortunately gotten greedy vis-a-vis parking. So, it was with interest, I noticed that you are also planning to install metered parking in Steveston.
Well, I guess this will be so long too, as I won't be paying to park for the opportunity (not a privilege) to shop in Steveston Village. Guess I will be staying in the Tsawwassen, Ladner/Pt. Roberts area - or "malling" it.
You might want to consider hiring someone to reflect on unintended consequences of municipal bylaws.
Well, so long. I doubt if I will be seeing you after your meters are installed.
