Dear Editor, First, allow me to congratulate you, and your newspaper for the great work you do, as a communication tool, for the community.

In the category of “nothing happens by accident,: the winner is… I recently began a volunteer position coordinating a program for local retirees/seniors, in which we tutor English language to high school students in the Middle East, once a week.

We are living longer. Advances in health care, improvements in diet and enhanced fitness programs have contributed to increased life expectancy, with the current life expectancy in Canada at 81.24 years. It is projected to rise further.

What’s not to like about Italian wines? Not only are they delicious and go well with food, but there are 440 indigenous varieties, many of them made nowhere else. No wonder Italy is known as Enotria, the Land of Wine.

One day in 1978, I was playing tag outside (remember those days?) with the neighbourhood kids. We were at my best friend’s house and his dog was playing with us. She was great! If she was tagged, she’d run after us trying to tag us with her nose.
