On Thursday afternoon, six candidates were at the all-candidates meeting organized by CARP, the Canadian Association for Retired Persons, with a focus on seniors issues.

Monday was the last day to submit paperwork to run in the federal election and the final lists were posted today.

Four all-candidates meetings are coming up in anticipation of the Oct. 21 federal election: two on Oct. 3 and two on Oct. 8. Richmond News’ editor Eve Edmonds will moderate two all-candidates debates, on Oct. 3 at South Arm United Church, and on Oct.

From the level of applause at the first all-candidates meeting on Monday evening, it might seem the Conservatives are leading in Richmond ridings.

There will be four advanced voting days centred around the Thanksgiving Day weekend – on Friday, Oct. 11, Saturday, Oct. 12, Sunday, Oct. 13 and Monday, Oct. 14. Polling stations are open from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m.

Richmond residents who are registered electors can expect their personalized voter information card in their mail by Oct. 4.

The first all-candidates meeting – taking place this evening - is sold out but there will be a Facebook livestream. The debate takes place at the Gaming Stadium starting at 6:30 p.m.

The NDP candidate for Richmond Centre has taken a break from campaigning because of a medical issue.
