Richmond residents who are registered electors can expect their personalized voter information card in their mail by Oct. 4.

The cards will have all the information voters need to know regarding where and when to vote, as well as the accessibility of their polling station.

If electors do not receive their card by Friday, or if their card shows the wrong information, registration and information update can be done online or by contacting the Elections Canada office in their electoral district.

Electors have to present proof of identity and address to vote.

Voter information cards may be used as a proof for address at the polls, but voters must have another piece of accepted ID to prove their identity.

The cards are not required to vote, but can help speed up the voting process.

If the location of a poll changes because of unforeseen circumstances – a fire or a flood – after the voter cards are mailed, another card with the words “Replacement Card” printed on the bottom corner will be mailed to electors.
