This week, former seven-time Tour de France cycling champion Lance Armstrong finally admitted to the world what most of us had already concluded - he cheated. Officially, the evidence had been stacked up for a while.

The Editor, Re: "Farmers' convoy rolls up to city hall," News, Jan. 18. The strongest claim I can make to be a tiny branch of the Richmond farmers' family tree is that since 1978 I have been living in Richmond. My children grew up in Richmond.

You will never hear a word of criticism from Royal Canadian Marine Search and Rescue volunteers against the federal government that grudgingly pays to gas their boats.

The Editor, Re: "Justice shoudn't defend niqab," Letters, Jan. 16. It is amazing that The Canadian Supreme Court is ignorant of the fact that the wearing of the niqab, burka, etc.

The Editor, I am a retired member of the RCMP and a permanent resident of Richmond since 1971. I worked at Richmond for about four and a half years during the '70s, and again for four years during the '80s.

When you see words like weird, disturbing, or oddball, you can be sure that the word Florida is not far off. If the 50 states were kids in elementary school, Florida would be the one who would eat a dead slug for a nickel.
