I t is horrifying to learn that a young girl has taken her own life feeling alone and persecuted.

The Editor, Re: "Wong defends decision to eat shark fin soup," Online, Oct. 13. Speaking as a Chinese-Canadian, I find all Chinese people opposed to banning shark fins a disgrace.

Far from being an unusual event, the ongoing train wreck that has engulfed the B.C. Conservative Party and its leader John Cummins is actually pretty standard fare in B.C. politics.

The Editor, The cowardly attack on 14-year-old Malala Yousafzai and another girl from Mingora, Pakistan has been condemned worldwide. The assassination attempt on Malala was in response to her position on education for girls and women's rights.

The Editor, As a professional in the mental health field and former school trustee, I was saddened and angry about the death of Amanda Todd. Based on the facts available so far, the system had failed her.

The Editor, Re: "Alice Wong tucks into bowl of shark fin soup," Online, Oct. 12. The staging of what can only be called a performance by MP Alice Wong of eating shark fin soup is an outrage to the community.

The power of pink has grown in the 22 years since Susan G. Komen began handing ribbons to breast cancer survivors running in the annual Race for the Cure in New York City.

I met myself the other day. I don't mean in some wishy-washy neo-hippie consciousness raising epiphanic moment way. I mean there was a bright flash of light in the backyard, and my older self appeared.
