Dear Editor, Re: “School’s out...,” News , July 11. Sea Island elementary is once again on the chopping block. Of course, we who live in the island community of Burkeville oppose this closure. However, we are in a fight we cannot win.

Bald, pot-bellied, bermuda shorts, binoculars slung around the neck – when I was a kid, that was my mental picture of a birdwatcher. Now I’m one of them.

Dear Editor, Re: “Richmond residents evacuated after explosion at apartment complex,” Richmond-News.com, July 11. I am a resident of the building Nautica North in Steveston where the natural gas explosion occurred on July 10.

Dear Editor, Re: “Rainbow shines despite deluge,” News , June 27 Maria Rantanen’s article gives an interesting synopsis of the prevailing diversity of opinion on the subject of the rainbow crosswalk, including some humour.

Dear Editor, Re: “ Couns. Defend $5.3M bowling decision ,” Letters, June 27. Perhaps Couns. Bill McNulty and Linda McPhail and the others who voted for this expenditure of public money should reconsider their decision.

Dear Editor, Re: “ One-time payouts bump up salaries ,” News , July 4. Great work on reporting city increases to the public.
