Dear Editor, I had the privilege of being one of several hundred people who turned out for the opening ceremony at the new Nikkei Memorial Garden in Steveston on Saturday. What a beautiful, well-planned addition this has made to our community.

“What do you do with that?” a woman at the green grocer asked, pointing to something in my basket. “That’s fennel, misidentified as anise,” I answered, and then proceeded to tell her what I do with it.

Dear Editor, Do Richmond farms produce organic broccoli at this time of year? You bet. However, a small Richmond organic farm doesn’t produce enough of it to supply a large supermarket chain.
