Richmond man facing sex offence charges against a minor

A man is accused of sexually assaulting and providing explicit materials to a minor.

A Richmond man is facing five sex offence charges against a minor dating back to 2021.

The man, whose identity is covered by a publication ban to protect the victim's identity, appeared in Richmond Provincial Court on March 8 for a bail hearing.

Court documents show he is charged with one count of sexual assault, two counts related to sexual touching, one count of providing sexually explicit material and one count of communicating with a person under 16 years old via telecommunication for the purpose of committing a sexual offence.

All incidents allegedly took place between June and December 2021.

The man was released on bail with a $5,000 recognizance without a surety or deposit.

His release conditions include no contact with the victim, no distributing information about the victim, no attending a Richmond school, and no contact with persons under 18 years old.

His next court appearance is scheduled for April 16.
