The Editor, My wife and I came to Richmond in 1997 and we have loved living in the Steveston/Westwind community since then. We have had the privilege of serving the community in various public safety capacities.

The Editor, Re: "High fences make alien neighbours," Letters, July 18. Our daughter and son-in-law purchased a townhouse in Richmond. When we stopped by on moving day, they said several neighbours had already stopped by to welcome them.

The Editor, My ex-wife and myself lost our beautiful daughter (Janelle R. Macdonald) to a tragic motorcycle accident on July 15, 2003 at the corner of No. 2 and Blundell roads. Each year, I put a single white rose at the corner, just to remember.

The Editor, Re: "Berry dumping mystifies rival," News, July 13. No way, B.C. farmers should not accept these negative comments for solution of the strawberry crisis. B.C. needs to maintain our B.C.-grown produce.

Thanks to the hard work of organizations like the B.C.'s Centre for Excellence in HIV/ AIDS, the tide has slowly turned on a once terrifying disease. Now a provincial campaign aims to eliminate the virus completely.

The Editor, Re: "Shark fin ban considered by city," News, July 11.

The Editor, Re: "Hamilton update area plan needs a re-think," Letters, July 18 I am very puzzled by the letter from Betty Carr that says that "high density" will not work in Hamilton.

The Editor, I wish to put forward a concern I have in regards to the River Queen operations.

Crows are pests. They're the reason your garbage is scattered all over the lawn when the can lid falls off. They devour crops, and are the indirect cause of many annoying hours of bird cannons in rural areas.

Open letter to city council, Something seriously needs to be done to address the train horn blasts in the middle of the night from trains travelling across an uncontrolled crossings in southeast Richmond.
