Dear Editor, Oct. 18 marked Richmond’s 10th annual Community Connect event (formerly Homeless Connect) at St. Alban Anglican Church.

Open letter to Metro Vancouver and Richmond engineering staff, This morning, I noticed all trees being cut down on the Gilbert Road (by the new firehall, swimming pool and community facilities) median for the new sewer line.

Dear Editor, As a candidate from the RITE/RCA coalition, I am truly excited our teammates Michael Wolfe and Kelly Greene have made it onto Richmond City Council.

What does community mean to you? It’s a commonly-used word, often spoken in the context of religion and ethnicity, such as “Chinese,” “South Asian,” “Black” and last, but not least, “Jewish.

Dear Editor, Some polling stations seemed very inconsistent on election day. Mine did not want any ID. Even when I asked them they said, “No, not required, it’s only required in provincial or federal elections.

Dear Editor, The 2018 city election is now in the books and it produced significant changes, with a couple of veterans being replaced with new councillors.

In a bid to strike something off his bucket list, Newsreporter Alan Campbell enlisted the help of Yolanda Blommers, of Richmond’s Blue Meadow Farm , to teach him how to ride a horse.

Well, I didn’t see that coming — talking about Saturday’s civic election, of course.

Dear Editor, I want to thank the many volunteers who have helped so much in this campaign. And I thank the residents of Richmond, who voted for me with the hope that I would become their mayor.
