Letters: Richmond's seniors should be up there with the kids

A Richmond News reader believes seniors should get as much attention as children

Dear Editor,

Re: “City could create thousands of childcare spots by 2031,” News, April.

Congratulations to the City of Richmond for planning to create thousands of childcare spots by 2031.

My dream is that the headline would (also) read “City  and Vancouver Coastal Health to create thousands of Senior Day Care Spots by 2031.”

For every childcare spot in Richmond, I would like to see an equivalent senior daycare spot. The need is great and Richmond City Council has always been supportive of the needs of seniors in our great community.  I urge council to put pressure on Vancouver Coastal Health to work towards this goal.

Seniors are a very large percentage of the Richmond population, and I applaud family members who are taking on the role of caregivers. They are the unsung heroes in our community.

As a senior, I hope to see my dream come true.
