Letters: Does someone have to die before Richmond road is policed regularly?

Speeding on Westminster Highway is nothing new, says letter writer.

Dear Editor,

Re: 'N' driver caught speeding at 169 km/h in Richmond

Speeding on Westminster Highway - this is nothing new.

What I am surprised about is that it has taken the police six months to even bother to catch someone speeding on this stretch of road.

I live on a float home off Westminster Highway and Fraserview Drive. Every single day, twice a day I drive that stretch of road and no one, including company trucks and semi trucks, do less than 80 to 100 kilometres per hour.

I can't count how many times semis are travelling so fast they can't stop at the light at Fraserview and I myself have narrowly missed being hit by one trying when I am trying to turn left on a green light.

I guess someone will have to die before they actually police that stretch on a regular basis.

Not much point having a 50-kilometre speed limit if you don't intend to enforce it.
