Abrey and Team Canada in action this weekend

Richmond native on Canadian roster for World Men's Fastpitch Championships

Richmond’s Bryan Abrey will suit up for Team Canada this weekend as the men’s national fastpitch squad tunes up for next month’s World Championships in Whitehorse.
The defending world champions will be one of five international squads at the Bob Law Memorial Challenge at Vancouver’s South Hill Park which starts Friday.
Joining Canada will be USA, Czech Republic, Great Britain and the New Zealand Black Sox, who Canada beat 10-5 in the 2015 World Championship gold medal final in Saskatoon.
Rounding out the field is B.C. club teams Fleetwood Marlins, South Hill Giants, Abbotsford Builders, CR Bartel Farms and the Sooke Loggers.Canada’s schedule includes a much-anticipated Canada Day clash against USA at 7 p.m. Saturday.
The top four teams make the playoffs with those games slated to run from 3 to 9 p.m. Sunday. The semifinals are Monday morning with the final at 2 p.m.
