A non-profit organization spent a year raising almost $37,000 for the Richmond Hospital Foundation’s COVID-19 Relief Fund.

Canada Asia Pacific Business Association (CAPBA), a non-profit focused on Canada’s relations with Asia, launched a series of charity events in February of last year in support of local health care amid the pandemic.

Members of CAPBA set up a fundraising event on Facebook called “COVID-19 Relief Charity Concert,” which raised $36,888 in total.

All proceeds have now been donated to the Richmond Hospital Foundation, said Elsa Wong, CAPBA COVID-19 Relief Campaign chair and president, and she is hoping more people donate and support people in need during COVID-19.

“We had foreseen the crisis at hand back in February of 2020 and began taking action in organizing charity events to help those in need,” Wong added. “Our objective is to support the frontline health-care workers in the fight against COVID-19 and to perform research where they can continue their uphill battle against this pandemic.”
