Richmond's "Island City, by Bike" tour returns at the right time with gas prices expected to soar once again.

Families in the city who are looking for a fun, free weekend activity are invited to take their bikes for a spin on Sunday, June 12.

The annual bike tour, presented by the City and the Richmond Active Transportation Committee, will be led by experienced tour guides.

Bike riders have the option of cycling along one of the two routes.

The short route is a 7-kilometer ride starting at 11 a.m., with on and off stops at Granville Avenue, the Railway Greenway and local streets.

A longer route is a 22-kilometer ride starting at 10 a.m., featuring the Middle Arm Greenway, River Parkway and recently completed neighbourhood bikeways. Both routes will start and finish at Minoru Centre for Active Living, 7191 Granville Avenue.

Snacks and a raffle prize will be available at Minoru Centre for Active Living after the tour.

Cyclists are encouraged to register for the event by quoting event ID #47824 by clicking here or calling the city’s registration centre at 604-276-4300 during business hours.
