Charges have been approved in connection to a 2017 vehicle collision that led to the death of a 27-year-old Richmond woman.

Rajwinder Singh Goraya, from Vancouver, has received two charges. One for driving “without due care and attention” and a second for “green light procedural contrary to…the BC Motor Vehicle Act.”

Last December, just two days after Christmas, Richmond RCMP were called to the area of Sea Island Way and Great Canadian Way after reports that a commercial vehicle hit a pedestrian.

The young woman was taken to hospital where she later died of her injuries.

The 44-year-old driver of the commercial vehicle – which appeared to be a Canada Post vehicle – stayed on scene and has been cooperating with police.

Alcohol and drugs were not considered to be factors in the collision.
