Your Voice: When was the last time you were engaged in, or appreciated art in Richmond?

I like photography, so whenever I see something nice, I always capture it with my camera. Art is actually around us every day, as long as you have the eye to discover it. Some places may seem ordinary, but if you think it’s beautiful, it is beautiful.

I hear about events being held at the Vancouver Art Gallery, and see posters about the theatre during my transit on the Skytrain, but other than that, not really. I think if the art is good, maybe we can have more advertising in the city. I will be more enticed to go then.

I see a lot of clothes made by fashion design students at KPU, which I consider art. I think we need more art in Richmond, because in Vancouver, there is definitely a lot more artwork within the community, and I think it makes it a lot more of a happier place.

When I saw colourful pictures on trash cans and ad boards by the road. I think we need more art in the city; it will enrich our lives. If we go out and see different artwork, even small ones, we will feel very happy.

Not in the city, but back home in the Philippines, when our rotary club opened an art exhibit for an artist to the public; it was very nice. Our rotary club here in Canada is trying to open a gallery to give exposure for Filipino-Canadian artists in Vancouver.
