A Richmond-based foundation gave out 40 scholarships last week, including four to Richmond high school grads.

In a ceremony at KPU's Richmond campus last week, the Richmond students and 36 students from Burnaby, Vancouver and Ontario received a total of $135,000 in scholarships from the Jean Ip Foundation.

Alysha Chow, Johnathan Moi, Karussa Qiu and Liam Memmott from Richmond Christian School were among 25 students to receive $2,000 scholarships each from the foundation.

These students showed exceptional promise, resilience and a deep commitment to their education and communities, according to a media statement from the Jean Ip Foundation.

In addition, the foundation awarded scholarships to 15 students, who are already enrolled in post-secondary institutions across Canada.

Thirteen students received $5,000 and two received $10,000 scholarships.

Recipients were selected based on financial need, academic excellence and community involvement.
