Family and friends came from across Canada to mark Richmondite Isabelle McClellan’s 100 th birthday last weekend.

Family and friends came from across Canada to mark Richmondite Isabelle McClellan’s 100th birthday last weekend.

And the party at McClellan’s Courtyard Gardens home was made extra special when her five-year-old great grandson, Kai Low, gave a special violin recital, accompanied by his mother on piano.

Kai kicked off the tribute by saying, "This is for you Great Grammy" and afterwards took a bow, before going over to McClellan to give her a hug and wish her a happy birthday.

A Richmond Mountie, in red serge, also made a guest appearance at the party to read out the birthday message from the Queen.

McClellan, who officially turned 100 on Monday, Nov. 18, raised her family with husband, Mac, in the Sea Island subdivision of Cora Brown from 1947 to 1968.

The family then moved to Lulu Island after being expropriated from Cora Brown and stayed in Richmond until they moved to the Penticton area.

Widowed and then 96, McClellan moved back to Richmond to be near her daughter, Marylin Low.

Low told the Richmond News how, in September, more than 20 family friends - many from the days of Cora Brown - came to Low’s house to celebrate McClellan’s century.
