Cambie Fire Hall No. 3 and Richmond North Ambulance Station Grand Opening: Saturday, Oct. 14: 11:30 a.m. to 4 p.m.: Fire Hall No. 3, 9680 Cambie Rd.

Join the City of Richmond at an open house to celebrate its brand new fire hall and ambulance station.

This facility, a British Columbia first, unifies both fire-rescue and ambulance services into one building, which also hosts Richmond Fire-Rescue’s new training facility and specialized mechanics shop.

Everyone is welcome for family fun, activities and self-guided tours. Try out the city’s new portable drinking fountain and interact with emergency services personnel. For more information, call 604-278-5131 or log onto Richmond.ca/Fire.

Free movies at WE Charity Day: Saturday, Oct. 14: 9 a.m.: Cineplex cinemas (SilverCity Riverport).

There’s a great line-up of free movies this year including Kung Fu Panda 3, Trolls, Ice Age: Collision Course, Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children, and Mike and Dave Need Wedding Dates. Movie-lovers are invited to a morning of free movies in support of WE Charity, as Cineplex hosts its 7th annual Community Day. Donations are welcome and 100 per cent of the money raised goes to WE Charity, part of WE, a family of organizations that makes doing good, doable. Doors open at 9 a.m., movies begin at 9:30 a.m., and tickets are available on a first-come, first-served basis.

Cannery Farmers’ Market: Sunday, Oct. 15: 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.: Gulf of Georgia Cannery, Steveston.

The market starts its new season on Sunday with wares of local vendors and artisans from throughout the Lower Mainland, musical entertainment, all inside the historic cannery in Steveston. Vendors include Wheelhouse Seafoods, Campbell’s Gold Honey Farm, Ladner Artisan Chocolates, Virtue Natural Bakery, Solecito Salsas, West Coast Brine, and many more. The market is operated by the Gulf of Georgia Cannery Society.
