Marina Szijarto’s Harvest Full Moon project comprises of a series of workshops and drop-in sessions, culminating in a procession and celebration on Saturday, Sept. 26 at the new City Centre Community Centre at 7 p.m.

Whale of a Book Sale: Saturday and Sunday, Oct. 7 and 8:

9 a.m. to 5 p.m. (Saturday), 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. (Sunday) at Thompson Community Centre.

Friends of the Richmond Library is hosting its fall “Whale of a Book Sale” on Oct. 7 and 8 at Thompson Community Centre. This will be a huge sale with more than 25,000 English and Chinese books, used and some like new, which have been categorized by dedicated volunteers so as to make it easy for customers and book lovers alike to find their favorite topics and genres. All proceeds benefit Richmond libraries.

3rd Annual Harvest Full Moon Festival:  Saturday, Oct. 7:

6 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. at the City Centre Community Centre, 5900 Minoru Blvd.

Richmond residents and visitors of all ages are invited to participate in City Centre Community Association’s third annual Harvest Full Moon Festival, led by local artist Marina Szijarto.

The harvest full moon is a time of year to give thanks, bring awareness, exchange stories and reminisce about past experiences related to the arts, culture and farming and how all three areas have evolved in Canada, and more specifically in Richmond, over the past 150 years.

To celebrate, everyone is invited to this free event that starts at 6 p.m. and includes a neighbourhood lantern procession, the chance to meet Debra Sparrow - acclaimed weaver and Salish artist of the Musqueam First Nations - Chinese brush painting sessions, lion dancers, a fiddler, Chinese harpist, guitarists, interactive storytelling and tea and moon cakes to share.
