1. Music at the Cannery – Irish Wakers

Date: Friday, Aug. 11:

Time: 6:30 p.m.

Place: Gulf of Georgia Cannery, 12138 Fourth AvenueMaritime music comes to the Cannery on Aug. 11 with the Irish Wakers. Comprised of Blake Williams (Irish bodhran award winner), Brian Robertson (guitar), Hugh Brock (flute, whistles, pipes), Michael Burnyeat (provincial fiddle champion) and special guest Sarah Ann Chisholm, Irish Wakers celebrate the songs and dance music of Ireland, with nods to the Canadian Maritime and to seafarers everywhere. Tickets are $7 each and available at the door. Concerts are held outdoors on the Cannery’s Tank Deck (or indoors if inclement weather.)

 

2. Richmond Maritime Festival

Date: Saturday and Sunday, Aug. 12 – 13

Time: Saturday: 11 a.m. - 7 p.m., Sunday: 11 a.m. - 5 p.m.

Place: Britannia Shipyards, 5180 Westwater Drive

Celebrating all things waterfront at the Britannia Shipyards Historic Site.From wooden boats to model boats, water safety to sea creatures, local lore to fishing history, this festival invites visitors to explore a spectacular heritage site and enjoy music, games, interactive exhibits, roving performers, food and much more. 3. Richmond Raptor Festival

Date: Sunday, Aug. 13

Time: 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Place: Terra Nova Rural Park

Get a free, closer look at some eagles, hawks and owls. These magnificent birds of prey from Pacific Northwest Raptors will perform spectacular flying displays as their handlers share an extensive knowledge of the birds.
