The Richmond World Festival is the city’s signature event, attracting more than 35,000 people in 2016. Expanding to two days this year, the free festival will celebrate the city’s cultural diversity though music, food, sport and art from around the world. The event features more than 75 artists on the festival’s nine stages.  Event hours: Friday: 4 p.m. to 11 p.m.; Saturday: 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. Full details online at RichmondWorldFestival.com.

Finn Slough

Walk Richmond at Finn Slough: Saturday, Sept. 2:

From 10- 11 a.m., join in a free, panoramic view of the Fraser River on this walk along Dyke Road to the historic community of Finn Slough and back.

Meet in the Woodwards Landing parking lot – one block west of No. 5 Road off Dyke Road. This event is for all ages. Disability access is available. Richmond Olympic Park Run: Saturday, Sept. 2: 

Run along the Middle Arm Trail and Waterfront Greenway, 7920 Cambie Rd.

Start time: 8:45 a.m.

Park runs are free, weekly, five-kilometre, timed runs. We encourage people of every ability to take part; from those taking their first steps in running to Olympians; from juniors to those with more experience; we welcome you all. We meet near the “waterdrop” statue near the intersection of Cambie Street and River Road, and follow the riverside footpath south.
