Richmond Public Library's Summer Reading Club (SRC) has seen more than 5,500 kids reading and receiving stickers and prizes for their efforts.

Special thanks also to the British Columbia Library Association for supporting this reading program and the Richmond News for publishing our book reviews. Here are three more to finish off your summer.

The Boy in Striped Pajamas by John Boyne.

Review by Jessica, age 11. This book is about a nine-year-old boy named Bruno who goes on a journey and soon arrives at a fence. There, he learns that people on the other side of the fence wear striped pajamas, have shaved heads (even for the girls) and have only one name. He also meets a friend, Samuel. After learning abruptly about him, Bruno's life is about to change, forever.

I like this book because it deeply affected me and I learned more about The Holocaust. It was poignant, moving and extremely powerful. And, because it was written in third person, it told the story in an innocent way.

I like this book because it has strong characters, but, at the same time, it was simple and unique. It tells a cruel story slowly and gently. It moves forward slowly, but steadily with a thrust of emotion or conflict to keep it going.

Stuart Little by E.B. White. Review by Vincent, age 11.

This book is about a mouse named Stuart, who once hid in a garbage can to hide from a dog.

After, he was poured into the garbage truck. Luckily, his best friend, Margalo, saved him from the stinky and smelly dump.

I like this book because I couldn't stop reading this adventurous, humourous, suspensefulpacked book! I hope you will have as much fun reading this book as I did!!

The Throne of Fire by Rick Riordin. Review by Moe, age 10.

This book is about Sadie and Carter going on a quest to find the sun god Ra. While the enemy is rising, the only way to defeat him is to wake Ra. Will Sadie and Carter succeed? I like this book because it has a lot of excitement!

You can also learn the names of Egyptian gods and many Egyptian words and hieroglyphs.

It has a lot of parts that are a bit scary, but something makes you want to read more. I would recommend this book to my friends.
