The Richmond Olympic Parkrun will mark its 150th event this Saturday, Sept. 14 and organizers are inviting everyone to come out and take part.
The free 5K walk/jog/run is open to absolutely anyone and goes every Saturday at 9 a.m. along the beautiful Middle Arm Dike Trail, from near the UBC Boathouse to near Terra Nova and back.
If you’re a serious runner, you can receive a free timed run, or if you just want some morning exercise, you can bring your kids and even the dog.

And if you’re not the fastest of any of the above, don’t worry, a volunteer “tail walker” is always bringing up the rear, so you won’t be the last home.
As it’s the 150th running of the event, the volunteer organizers are planning a special celebration.
“It's not a competition and it's not a race - it's about getting outside regularly to enjoy community, health and wellbeing,” said one of the organizers, Becky Maybury.
“Parkrun is put on by volunteers each week, so if you'd rather not do the 5K, but you're interested in being involved as a volunteer to give back to the community or gain skills for your resume, get in touch.”
