Richmond’s Snow Angels have been out in force today, following last night’s dump of six inches or so.

Several people have been contacting the Richmond News to publicly thank the volunteers for coming around and clearing their paths, driveways and sidewalks.

One of them, an 84-year-old woman called Shirley – who didn’t want to give her last name – said she has shovelled the snow from her property all her life, until this year.

Shirley said he finally had to sign up for the City of Richmond’s Snow Angels program to help clear her property in the Broadmoor neighbourhood.

“They’ve done a marvellous job for me,” she told the News on Thursday afternoon.

“I think they’ve been out a couple of times this winter, but I’ve never saw them before. It looked like a mother and son out there. I went out to thank them.

“They really are angels and they deserve some recognition.”

Another resident, Kevin Hayka, told a story about “five wonderful young men who came into our neighborhood to help people shovel the snow from the sidewalks and walkways.”
