Richmond RCMP Toy Drive kicks off Christmas event weekend

Annual attempt to 'Stuff the Squad Car' in aid of Christmas Fund takes place at Ironwood, while a triple header of craft fairs is also on

Richmond RCMP and its partners are once again encouraging the public to drop off a new toy, book or donation at Ironwood Plaza on Saturday morning. You'll get a pancake breakfast for your trouble!

The Richmond RCMP Toy Drive and Pancake Breakfast returns to Ironwood Plaza for the third year in a row.

This year’s event promises to be bigger and better than ever, but the main idea remains the same. Stop by Ironwood between 8 a.m. and noon, donate a new toy or book to the Richmond Christmas Fund (or make a minimum $5 cash donation), and get treated to a free pancake breakfast.

As the toys come in, they’ll be stuffed inside an RCMP squad car, with the goal of filling it up by morning’s end.

For the first time, the Richmond Public Library will be participating in the event, adding to the festive atmosphere by reading holiday-themed children’s stories.

Steveston United Church Annual Christmas Bazaar

Steveston United Church, 3720 Broadway Street:

The bazaar has been a holiday tradition in Steveston Village for more than 60 years. The bazaar is a terrific family destination with a chow mein lunch, Asian food market, hot dogs (no one need to go home hungry). As well as, there will be raffles, a silent auction, Christmas crafts and a visit from Santa.

Gilmore Gardens Christmas Craft & Bake Sale Fundraiser:

Get your hands on some fabulous baked goods and crafts, including products from the Candy Dish in Steveston, Saltspring Soapworks, Blacksmith Jeweller (with glass, silver, gold and iron items), hand-made greeting cards and more.

Also, there will be raffle prize draws for a Quilchena Grill gift certificate, tickets to Gateway Theatre, gift cards for Safeway, Shoppers Drug Mart, Nygard Fashion and more.

All money raised will be donated to the Richmond Christmas Fund and Richmond Food Bank. .

Steveston Christmas Craft Fair:

Kick start your holiday shopping at Richmond’s biggest Christmas Craft Fair at the Steveston Community Centre.

With more than 160 tables of juried home-crafted arts, baking, canning, carving, jewelry, textiles, toys, and other delightful artisan favours, you are sure to find something for everyone on your list, or a special treat for yourself. Admission is by cash donation in support of the Steveston park playground project, or a non-perishable food donation in support of the Richmond Food Bank.

There will also be a concession co-hosted by the seniors and youth programs volunteers and staff. The Steveston Christmas Craft Fair is located inside the net shed building (indoor tennis facility.)
