English and Chinese are two of the most spoken languages in Richmond. A free public program held on Saturdays aims to help residents make friends and practice English or learn Mandarin through fun outdoor games.

The program, called the Gateway Language Exchange Game Show, is hosted by Gateway Theatre, Richmond Public Library and Richmond Cultural Centre.

Participants will join a mixed Mandarin and English speaking team and follow show hosts on a journey in Richmond, while playing games or conquering challenges involving both languages, and discovering new corners of the city.

The journey will start from Richmond Cultural Centre, through Minoru Park and will end at a “secret location.”

The game show will kick off at 2 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 16 at Richmond LIbrary and Cultural Centre, at 7700 Minoru Gate, and is scheduled to finish at 4 p.m.
