Richmondites who know a local history buff are encouraged to nominate them for a 2019 Richmond Heritage Award.

Each year, awards are given to recognize individuals and organizations who strive to conserve historic places or raise awareness about Richmond’s heritage.

Anyone is welcome to submit a nomination by completing a one-page form that describes the nominee’s contribution. Recognition could be for preservation, outreach, advocacy or contributions to local knowledge.

“Historic buildings, cultural and natural heritage landscapes, artifacts, and oral and written histories are all rich resources that contribute to Richmond’s shared community identity today,” the city says in a press release.

Awards will be presented on May 11 at the Richmond Regional Heritage Fair’s Closing Ceremony at the Richmond Cultural Centre at 7700 Minoru Gate.

To receive a nomination form, email Minhee Park at [email protected]. Submissions must be received by Wednesday, April 17.
