Richmond students studying political science will get a new scholarship beginning next year.

The Richmond Community Foundation (RCF) announced the latest addition to its "forever funds," the Wendy Yuan and Kan Chen Scholarship Endowment Fund, on Wednesday.

The scholarship, created by long-time Richmondites Yuan and Chen, will support a local political science student every year.

Yuan and Chen actively contribute to the community through volunteering and fundraising. Yuan, who's on RCF's board of directors and co-chairs its donor development committee, has been instrumental in the establishment of the foundation's forever funds over the years.

“This is an important addition to our scholarship offerings,” said Ed Gavsie, RCF executive director.

“By providing financial support to political science students, we’re able to encourage youth civic engagement, and help grow the next generation of community leaders.”
