If you’re looking to spend some of the Christmas holidays indoors or outdoors here in Richmond, there are 20 activities to keep you socializing, exercising and having fun. Even better is that all the things to do through to Jan.

If you’re looking to spend some of the Christmas holidays indoors or outdoors here in Richmond, there are 20 activities to keep you socializing, exercising and having fun.

Even better is that all the things to do through to Jan. 7 can be found in one convenient place on the City of Richmond’s website at Richmond.ca/WinterBreak.

One-day and ongoing special events and activities include free drop-in family open gym times at Hamilton and Thompson community centres, parent and child programs at Brighouse Library, a 15-minute tour of a Britannia Shipyards building, a stroll through the Richmond Nature Park, swimming at Watermania and Our Journeys Here exhibit at the Richmond Museum.

Events specific to Christmas Eve, Christmas Day and New Year’s Day include:

1. A matinee screening of the movie, White Christmas – Sunday, Dec. 24, 12:30 to 2:30 p.m. at Minoru Place Activity Centre.

2. Christmas Day at City Centre — Monday, Dec. 25, 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at City Centre Community Centre. Preschoolers can play and adults can work off holiday meals, or just read and relax in the Community Living Room.

3. Tim Horton’s Charity Skate at the Oval — Monday, Jan. 1, 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Richmond Olympic Oval. Free skate admission with food donation to support the local food bank. The skate includes free coffee, hot chocolate and Timbits, plus a family New Year’s countdown.
