Get ready for a celestial event.

Richmond Public Library has partnered with the physics department at Kwantlen Polytechnic University to offer a public viewing of the solar eclipse using telescopes and other instruments that will safely project an image of the eclipse onto a screen.

The viewing party takes place on the plaza outside the Brighouse branch on Monday, Aug. 21 from 9:30  to 11:30 a.m.

In addition to the solar eclipse viewing, there will be activities for children, including an outdoor pop-up library with astronomy-themed books and materials available for reading and borrowing.

The outdoor portion of this event is weather-permitting. If the weather conditions are poor or cloudy, then the viewing party will be moved inside the Brighouse branch where the eclipse will be streamed live from NASA.

This event is free and all ages are welcome to attend. Come as a family and witness this exciting natural phenomenon as it occurs.
