A festive double-header of free, 5K parkruns is taking place along the Fraser River’s Middle Arm Dyke Trail.
Kicking off from near the UBC Boathouse on River Road, the Richmond Olympic Parkrun organizers have issued an open invitation to all runners, joggers and walkers to join in the fun by throwing on a Santa hat or an elf costume.
The pre-Christmas run goes this Saturday, Dec. 21 at 9 a.m., while the special New Year’s Day run goes Jan. 1 at the slightly later time of 10:30 a.m.
And, if you’re feeling super keen to kick 2020 off in “style,” you could double up and do the Burnaby parkrun at 8:30 a.m. that morning.
No matter what your fitness levels are, parkrun organizers encourage everyone to go along and take part, as they have a volunteer “tail-walker” every week to make sure no one is left behind.
For those that want to check their time, you need to be register for your (free) parkrun barcode in advance.
For more information about any of their events – which go every Saturday at 9 a.m. – go to ParkRun.ca/RichmondOlympic.
