Local artist Brenda Clark has been chosen as the creator of this year’s Richmond Maritime Festival official poster.

The 13th annual festival takes place at Britannia Shipyards National Historic Site on Aug. 6 and 7 and Clark, a Richmond-based architect, will be the one coming up with this year’s theme.

Clark is actively involved in the Richmond arts scene and is a member of the Riverside Artists’ Circle, a past member of the Richmond Gem & Mineral Club, the Richmond Potters’ Club and was president of the Image Printmakers’ Group, all based in the Richmond Cultural Centre.

“I’m very excited to be a part of the 2016 Maritime Festival,” said Clark.

“I love the City of Richmond’s support of the arts. It is very rewarding to see art so highlighted and treasured in our community.”

Clark was selected from a number of artists who submitted samples of their work for consideration.

The final poster illustration will be published in June. For more information about the Richmond Maritime Festival, go online to RichmondMaritimeFestival.ca.
