Jas Johal was most recently the director of communications at the BC LNG Alliance. Formed in 2014, the alliance is the voice of British Columbia›s liquefied natural gas export industry.
Prior to joining the alliance he was a senior journalist at Global Television. He has spent more than two decades extensively traveling B.C. covering news and current affairs, focusing on a wide range of issues ranging from politics, business, transportation, health, and organized crime.
He has also served as Global Television’s Asia bureau chief based in Beijing, China and previously in New Delhi, India. He has reported extensively on Asia’s rise, focussing on economic and foreign policy, energy, food, and water security, as well as labour and human rights.
Question: What two pieces of legislation would you enact if you were premier for a day?
I believe how society guides and cares for their children impacts our future, and making sure we take care of citizens who have built this great province remain a priority. I would enact a seniors charter and a separate childrens charter. Both policies would provide a framework for guiding government to better decisions related to seniors and children.
