Vancouver Coastal Health reported that a COVID-19 exposure occurred at a Richmond children’s centre.

Parents and guardians of West Cambie Children’s Centre were sent self-monitoring letters to inform them that an exposure occurred in a 3-5 toddler program on June 3 and 4.

According to VCH, anyone identified as a close contact will be directly notified by the public health authority and those who are considered low at risk of exposure will not be contacted and are not required to isolate.

Children and families are asked to perform standard daily health checks to self-monitor for signs and symptoms of illness until Friday, June 18.

“Please be reassured that current COVID safety plans in our childcare settings, when followed correctly, are very effective in preventing transmission,” read the letter.

“We will continue to monitor the childcare facility and will communicate any updates to these recommendations.”

COVID-19 safety plans and protocols are consistently being followed by staff, children and family members at the centre. The program remains open at this time.
