For many, the holidays are time for feasting, but for some in the community, enjoying a special holiday meal is out of the question.
Hoping to support families in need this holiday season, Vancouver International Airport has teamed up with Vancouver-based Quest Food Exchange to collect hampers on Thursday, Dec. 6. Last year, the airport collected a record-breaking 1,057 hampers.
Anyone can fill up a hamper with ingredients for a holiday meal and bring it to The Spirit of Haida Gwaii: The Jade Canoe at the airport until 3 p.m. After Dec. 6, hampers can also be dropped off at Quest Food Exchange at 2020 Dundas St. in Vancouver.
Each hamper should have:
- 2 cans of soup
- 2 cans of vegetables
- 1 can of cranberry sauce
- 1 box of crackers
- 1 box of chocolates
- 2 cans of fruit
- 2 packets of gravy
- 2 boxes of instant mashed potatoes
- 2 boxes of stuffing
For donated hamper will be topped off with a turkey donated by the airport.
