Richmond Fire-Rescue is reaching out to local homeless people this week to help keep them warm.
Richmond firefighters will be distributing cold-weather packages from their rescue trucks with toques and gloves as well as hygiene products and tea, coffee and hot chocolate packets.
The initiative comes from the North Shore-based non-profit Warming the Homeless, which is donating the items.
On the Richmond Fire-Rescue Facebook page, fire fighters thank B.C. Parker for bringing the program to Richmond.
Each winter package contains a wide variety of new items: a knitted wool toque, knitted wool socks, gloves, a vinyl rain poncho, hand warmer packets, tea/coffee/hot chocolate packets, hand and/or facial cream, shampoo, conditioner and/or soap and feminine hygiene products.
