More than 550 family members impacted by autism attended a free movie screening of Toy Story 4 and the Pacific Autism Carnival in Richmond.

More than 550 family members impacted by autism attended a free movie screening of Toy Story 4 and the Pacific Autism Carnival in Richmond.

The 4th Annual Sibling Support Day last month, organized by the Growing Together charity, honoured families by providing a unique experience, thanks to Vancity Credit Union and KPMG.

Many of the families involved have not been able to experience a movie ever before, due to the sensory environment an individual with autism experiences.

Events such as the Sibling Support Day, say organizers, help “create a meaningful experience for these siblings to interact with one another.”

The movie was screened at SilverCity Riverport Cinemas and the carnival was hosted Pacific Autism Family Network’s hub on Cessna Drive.

The Richmond-based Pacific Autism Family Network (PAFN) is a first-in-North America charitable organization, with a mandate to serve the lifespan needs of individuals and families affected by Autism Spectrum Disorder and all related disorders.
