Farmers market enthusiasts, it’s time to set mark those summer calendars – the 2019 dates for the Steveston Farmers and Artisans Market have been set, with opening Sunday just over a month away.
On Sunday, May 5, vendors from as close as Steveston to as far as the Okanagan selling produce, baked goods, handmade jewellery, skin care and local beer will return to the parking lot across from the Steveston Community Centre two Sundays per month.
As the season goes on, the produce will continue to be more varied and plentiful.
After May 5, other market dates include May 19, June 2 and 16, July 7 and 21, Aug. 4 and 18 and Sept. 15 and 29.
Currently, the market is still recruiting volunteers with opportunities ranging from face painters to photographers to market crew members.
Extra funds raised by the Steveston Farmers and Artisans Market go to support activities and projects of the Steveston Community Centre such as the Steveston Water Park and the current renewal of the Steveston Playground.
The market runs at 4320 Moncton St. at Easthope Avenue from 10:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., rain or shine. Visit www.sfam.ca for more details, including volunteer applications.
