On May 4 at the Gulf of Georgia Cannery in Steveston, this free, family-friendly event aims to feature performances, displays, activities and food the diverse communities that helped to develop the West Coast’s fishing industry.

Not only will there be traditional dance and music from a variety of cultures, but there will also be workshops, demonstrations, crafts and food tastings.

Multi-lingual guided tours of the salmon cannery in English, French, Mandarin and Japanese will also be offered, along with viewings of a 25-minute documentary, “Ebb & Flow: Turning Points in West Coast Fishing History.”

Festivities are scheduled at the cannery, located at 12138 Fourth Ave., from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.
