Over 30 teams from throughout the Lower Mainland will be at the Richmond Ice Centre, starting tomorrow for the annual Trail Appliances RIC 1-4 Tournament. The event wraps up on Sunday.

What started out as a tournament to bridge the relationship between the Seafair Minor Hockey Association and Richmond Minor Hockey Association, has now exceeded all expectations.

For the first time ever, the Trail Appliances – Richmond Ice Centre Hockey 1-4 Tournament will be hosted by the newly amalgamated Richmond Jets.

The name of the tournament hasn’t changed and neither has the composition of the players.  The big difference is, that the Richmond players are now all playing under the Richmond Jets banner.

What also hasn’t changed is the support of event sponsor Trail Appliances.

Now entering their fifth year as tournament sponsors, Trail Appliances has been a driving force behind the success of the tournament. Their financial and organizational support has helped create one of the top tournaments in the Lower Mainland for Initiation and Novice aged players.

Starting on Friday and concluding on Sunday, over 30 teams from throughout the Lower Mainland will be participating in over 60 games at RIC.

According to tournament organizer Ken Hamaguchi, “Fans are going to see hockey in its simplest form.  No scores are kept, no yelling at the refs – just a lot of slipping, sliding and having fun.”

Spectators are welcome.
